Help and trust

How cover works, what the care standard means, and who to ask about what.

How goods cover works

The building

Insured by its owner

The storage company or host insures their own building. That doesn't cover your things.

Your things

Your cover

Either your home policy covers items in storage (check the wording), or you add goods cover when you book.

Stowkind

Platform cover

Stowkind would hold its own liability and professional indemnity cover as the booking platform.

Not arranged yet

Goods cover in this preview is illustrative. At launch it would be provided by an insurer through an authorised broker, with clear policy wording. Stowkind hasn't approached any insurer or broker yet, and nothing here is a quote.

Making a claim

  1. Tell Hob what happened and add photos.
  2. Hob compares them with your move-in photos and the Keeper's care checks.
  3. Hob sends everything to the insurer and the Keeper, and keeps you updated in plain words (never in character).

The Stowkind care standard

Six checks, shown as dots on every listing. Each must be evidenced by the Keeper or their system.

The standard is a draft. Ratings on preview listings are demo data.

FAQs

Who actually looks after my things?

The storage company or host: their building, their access, their security. Stowkind books the space, takes payment, keeps your inventory and stays in touch. We call the people on site the Keepers.

Does Stowkind have staff?

No. Stowkind is run by software agents, led by Hob. Anything physical goes to the Keeper; anything about Stowkind that Hob can't settle goes to the company's director.

Can Hob see inside my space?

No. Hob only knows what you photographed, what the Keeper records and what their system shares. If something isn't shared, Hob says so.

Who do I pay?

Stowkind takes one payment and pays the storage company or host their share.

What are the postcards?

A monthly note written as if from one of your things, with plain facts underneath. Quiet mode turns the characters off, and problems, payments and legal notices are never written in character.

How do I get my things back?

Request a reunion in the app: choose the items, collect or delivery, and a time inside the Keeper's access hours.

What can't I store?

Flammables, food, living things, stolen goods, and anything illegal. Each Keeper can add their own rules.

How much notice to leave?

It depends on the agreement. In this preview we show one month's notice as an example.

I'm a host. What about my insurance?

Tell your insurer before you let space. Renting space for storage can affect a home or farm policy. Hob flags this at onboarding but doesn't give legal or tax advice.
